Jordana Lilly is a CA born-and-raised jazz/pop/r&b singer-songwriter. Her zeal for music began at a very young age, which she was able to cultivate through piano lessons and belting Dreamgirls at the top of her lungs from balconies in order to scare people. Her musical inspirations include Eryn Allen Kane, Jill Scott, Emily King, Nai Palm, and Kimbra, all of whom possess an inclination for unique syncopation and rhythm and a poetic sensibility in their songwriting. The result of these influences? Soulful vocals smoothly coasting over lush pop and r&b arrangements that'll tear your heart and the soles of your dancing shoes to shreds.
“Push & Pull”
[V1] You look like you’re good
I want to consume you You touch better than I thought you would Stroke me with the tips of your fingers
[V2] It’s a different skill To delicately engineer a thrill Don’t know if you’ve earned it yet, but - I can feel you in my nerve endings
[PRE-CHORUS] He can make love like he knows you, but he don’t know you he just knows how to touch ya He can touch you like he wants you but he don’t want you he just knows what you need
[CHORUS] It’s taking a toll on me, toll on me The push and the pull, the push and the pull. Toll on me, toll on me The push and the push and the pull
[V3] The chills may be real But you’ve got your heart in a box and sealed. Brain knows better than to want anything with ya. But my body cares cuz you know what I need
[V4] If you’re lighting my fuse. Consequentially you’re gonna be my muse. Why can’t I see into your mind. When exploring you just gets me every time
[PRE-CHORUS] He can make love like he knows you, but he don’t know you he just knows how to touch ya. He can touch you like he wants you but he don’t want you he just knows what you need
[CHORUS] It’s taking a toll on me, toll on me The push and the pull, the push and the pull Toll on me, toll on me The push and the push and the pull
[OUTRO] Touch that sends shivers down my spine - is he all mine I’ve got him screaming my name, and he learned it yesterday Oh, why does he call me baby I guess I’ve been lonely lately You don’t know me Manipulation, elation the push and the pull It’s human nature to nurture and that’s how you hurt when you don’t intend to It’s taking a, it’s taking a toll on me It’s taking a toll on me The push and the push and the pull
[INTRO] Lilac skies, muffled cries. Sparkle in his eyes, but he’s hiding deep inside. The human in his heart is oh so paralyzed. You’re the one to blame, this is your own twisted game.
[V1] You told me I was different. You told me I’d be listened to. You told me I was worth it. Now I know not to listen to you.
[V2] I told him I’ve been stupid, I told him that this makes me scared. I told him I was worth it. Here comes the aftermath, hope you’re prepared.
[CHORUS] This is your own twisted game. Twisted game, twisted game.
[V3] Tried so hard to empathize. Saw this little boy inside. Hungry to please, hungry to feed Tried to get him on my side
[V4] Coaxed him into my loving arms, Oh my god, it felt so right, But he tangled my mind now I’m just left with rind. I can see the darkness in the morning light
[CHORUS] This is your own twisted game
[BRIDGE] When will you realize, you’re the one who’s terrified When you look into the mirror, why are you hiding? Oh, I hypothesize, you’ll be strangled in your lies Twisted up and tangled
[CHORUS/OUTRO] In your own twisted game, it’s not me, it’s you, it’s you, it’s you, it’s you, it’s you. Oh, twisted, game, it’s you, it’s you, it’s you, it’s you, it’s you. Game, game. I ain’t playing.
[INTRO] x4 Reprends la verite, la lumiere est plus effrayant Tu fais semblant - de comprendre en allant dormir
[V1] Pity party tears until I’m sick of me. Gaze slips up Finally awake
[V2] Inward outward, outward in Find a mix, finally awake. Finally awake, finally awake.
[V3] Blades of grass are no match For my bare feet Speaking to the ground
[V4] Howl my darling, how out loud Don’t let them stifle you. Finally awake. Finally awake, finally awake.
[CHORUS] Howl! Your heart out. Howl - howl! Howl, my darling. Howl, howl!
[RE-INTRO] x 2 Reprends la verite, la lumiere est plus effrayant Tu fais semblant - de comprendre en allant dormir
[V5] Emptiness enabled by a closed mind. Pry it open then suddenly awake.
[V6] Privilege of a bubble saturated with time Pop it and find that you’re suddenly awake
[V7] Dig till earth is packed into every nail bed. Filling them to the brim
[V8] Devour the night air so crisp it could slice skin But it’s too kind to Suddenly awake, suddenly awake, finally awake
[CHORUS] Howl! My darling. Howl - howl! Howl, my darling. Howl, howl!
[OUTRO] Reprends la verite, la lumiere est plus effrayant Tu fais semblant - de comprendre en allant dormir
“Jordana is a singer/songwriter with an affinity for poetic lyrics. Her new song ‘Howl’ is amazing, the French intro really sets a relaxed feel about the song then the shift in energy when it comes to the chorus switches it up to a big, impactful sound. The song is beautiful lyrically, it’s definitely one to listen to in the bath with a glass of wine (or your choice of non-alcoholic beverage)!”
“Jordana Lilly usually finds a way to bridge the pop and R&B worlds with her music. Her single “Push & Pull” is a clever blend of exciting indie-pop melodies and contemporary rhythms. With heartfelt lyrics coupled with a sultry, passionate and soulful vocal delivery, the singer/songwriter does craft songs that are vibey yet emotive. “Push & Pull”, which inculcates these aesthetics, now has been followed by another song, “Howl”, which the artist released a couple of days ago. These two records are precursors to her upcoming debut album, which is due later in May
“Push & Pull” is a successful new track from Jordana Lilly, a Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter who infuses old-school R&B with a modern pop shine. Lyrics like “I’ve got him screaming my name, and he learned it yesterday,” combine with suave orchestral flourishes and a hypnotic rhythmic backing for an emotive, seductive success. The lyrical sentiments – encompassing “one night stands, compartmentalizing, and animal instincts,” – combine with a memorable melodic construction to remain wholly accessible, while still separating from the hordes of modern R&B, touting a distinctive sound and convincing nocturnal atmosphere.”
- Obscure Sound
(Translated into English) “Push & Pull is the Los Angeles singer Jordana Lilly's latest single. It is a song that smells of R&B while it feels like a modern pop song carried by an antemic feeling. The text of the song describes a feeling that one wants both to end and not and she gets the message of the text with a terribly good and convincing feeling.
On her social media it is rumored that she is just working with a number of exciting producers and songwriters and if everything goes as it should, she will release her debut album during the year.”
“Within the past few hours Jordana revealed the track Step into the Light which cradles the listener in combinations of piano and bowed strings which gives the track a lustre that shines around the room bathing the listener in the warm glows of the composition.”

“For 2017, goodness knows we need some anthems of positivity. This one by L.A-based singer-songwriter is just the ticket to end things off on our list. It’s about the very big difference between vulnerability and weakness, and about having courage to move towards something positive even when all around is dark. Apropos for our times, no?”
- The Deleted Bin
“Sometimes songs are just pretty; darn pretty. Yes, I know that's a rather shallow description of Jordana Lilly's debut release of her first single, Step Into The Light. This is one of those songs that turns into a moment. First, you begin to listen, then you stop what you're doing and listen more intently. By the end of the song, you're ready to hit the replay button, and somewhere during that playback, you're reaching for your favorite glass of wine. Call it a day friend ~ you're lost in the music.”
